We can remove tiny or wide, flat skin lesions by electrocauterisation, laser or a spoon. Lidocain injection might be administered. The wound healing might last from 1-to 14 days depending on the size. For a quick recovery soaking the wound in water is forbidden, but a brief shower is possible. For surfaces where rubbing is likely, we use bandages to cover.

By a previous demoscopical screening it can be defined, which birthmark is removable by laser. The cavity of the wound needs several months to fill up, during which heat and light can have a damaging effect. On the first week we use wet dressing, a dry one during the second week, soaking the wound in water is not allowed, only a brief shower is possible. The extracted birthmark should be sent for hystological examination, which takes 2-3 weeks.

Previous dermoscopical screening is essential. Appointments for surgery can be given only after previous dermatological examination. Purely aesthetical birthmark removal can be administered as well. The removal takes approximatelly half an hour. We use sutures and cover the wound by a sterile bandage. No water may touch the wound. The sutures will be extracted after 2 weeks, a shower is possible 24 hours after the suture removal. One week after the operation we check the status of the wound and change the bandage preventing a possible inflammation. In case of inflammation, a more complex wound care is necessary and the suture extraction might be postponed. In order to avoid this sports and sauna (perspiration and heat) are strictly prohibited. We extract risky birthmarks during the summer only, keeping the above consideration.<\/p>

Certain skin cancers can be removed by incision (according to the birthmark removal).Important: controll screening is essential after the removal by protocoll: four times in the first year, two times in the second year.<\/p>

Removal of cysts and smaller nodes is also possible in a similar way, operation time can be longer depending on the size. Wound control and suture extraction is as previously mentioned. The phlegm of inflammed nodes is first drained. We extract the node only after antiinflammatory therapy and one month recovery period. It is not recommended to operate nodes during the summer without any inflammation, because the deeper wounds become inflammed more frequently due to the heat and sunlight.

Postoperative scar treatment is a long term home care, that needs a lot of time, attention and patience. Protruding scars can develop in specific areas, like the neckline, shoulders or any frictional surfaces. Prevention is by light bandages, release of tension, and silicone gels, sheets. If there is not effective, we use intralesional steroid injections to decrease the protrusion. The treatment consists of 2-10 sessions. The result is uncertain.<\/p>
